I had the unbelievable opportunity to go to Fiji for work – I’m a publicist at Fox and one of my shows was filming there! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be in Fiji for a week solo, and let me tell you I made the most of it!
From the moment my plane touched down in Nadi, I was instantly transported to this beautiful country unlike anything I had ever experienced. The culture, the people, the food, the history, the beauty was all more than I had imagined. The drive from the airport to my resort was eye opening; seeing the villages, the agriculture, the bright colors, the animals but most importantly the beautiful people.
The Fijian people I had the pleasure to meet and spend time with touched my heart in a way that I will never fully be able to express. They told me about their lives along with their beloved countries history. A country, they explained, wouldn’t be where it is today if not for being saved by Christianity.
My life has been forever changed. Seeing the simplicity of life that led to untamed joy. The fact that people had so little but were so happy — because it was the only life they knew. I reflected a lot on my life; how I stress over little nothings, how I’m always worrying about what is next, how I get caught up in life and forget what it is all about. God, Family, Love, Kindness, Generosity, Selflessness. That is what life is all about — and I’m so thankful that my encounters in Fiji helped me remember that.
